Del Mar Lifeguards celebrate 50 years of operation

Started in 1965 under Captain Gardner W. Stevens, the Del Mar Lifeguard Department has experienced many changes over the past 50 years. New lifeguard towers, better technology, more personnel, and a huge influx of beach goers. DMLG summer party (fundraiser): On Saturday June 27, 2015 the Del Mar Lifeguard Department celebrates 50 years of service to the City. Festivities will be held at the 15th St. Powerhouse Community Center. Included: Huge fundraiser raffle, lots of prizes, food and beverages. Dancing to classic rock and roll. Open to the public. Contact the lifeguard dept for advance tickets - or purchase them at the door.
